Stamp duty plunging people into debt

Stamp duty in the UK is pushing consumers towards serious debt and the CML are campaigning to see it reduced.

The group say that reducing stamp duty would tempt more people into buying houses and turnaround the current slowdown in the property market.

Recent figures from Halifax show that a third of people have to stump up a third of their annual salary just to cover the stamp duty on their property, leaving them to struggle with others bills and outgoings.
