Credit card debt from household problems

More UK consumers than ever are having to get into credit card debt to repair broken down household appliances according to research from Alliance & Leicester.

7.5 million people in the UK are forced to pay with plastic when unexpected expenses arise from problems such as a broken down boiler or faulty plumbing.

Hetal Parmar from the A&L advised, "We would encourage people to start saving sooner rather than later to avoid a basic household emergency becoming a financial headache."
